Peter recorded the following words in I Peter 5:6-7, “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” There is a cliché that is used in the church that is as follows; “the way up is down, and the way down is up.” This is in reference to having or not having humility. In I Peter 5:5 the latter clause says “be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.” Your life may consist of being passed over on jobs at the place of employment, or even being overlooked for certain duties that were desired in church. If this happens on a consistent basis the answer may not be to complain that your equal rights have been violated. The answer may be to seek the face of God as to what his will is for your life. Promotion from God starts on your knees in prayer (the way up being down). God’s will for your life may be in a position that is not popular but fruitful. He has a reason for every thing that he does. If we can accept this and walk in it, we will be in a position to receive grace from God rather than resistance due to being proud. Humility is a tremendous asset. This quality that God may be developing in you will get you farther in life in the eyes of God as well as man. Humility is a strength that many do not possess. If you feel that you consistently get the short end of things, increase your prayer life. Seek the face of God. You will, no doubt, find yourself in a better position than you thought.
